Missing Book Alert
At the Field Law Libraries, just like every other library, of any type, anywhere, we occasionally lose track of materials. Our low tech system for circulating library material is based on a sign out card in a pocket attached to the back cover which borrowers remove and plunk in an assigned spot labeled with their initials. Library staff then finish the sign out process and put cards in title order to make it easy for people to locate who has an item for easy sharing of borrowed material. This works pretty well in our environment.
Sometimes, people don't remember to let us know when they have borrowed something that was signed out to another individual. We try not to interrupt people with email alerts for missing books. Our firm has a daily email bulletin that we use to communicate with each other, and I thought I would share a creative missing book alert that Field Library Assistant Jane Symons created:
