Why are some good at getting new business
There is an interesting post on the Legal Marketing Blog about Nature vs. Nurture and rainmakers. It links to an article by Ed Poll on the same topic.
The point of these articles (my take anyway) is that people successful at getting new business are visible where their prospects are. This is why the Field library team hand deliver requests - so that other users of our service see us.
Fielders can always phone or email to gain access to library services, or use the many self serve research options that we provide, but it is still our job to make sure our users know we are here and ready to help out. This blog and other social media tools are one more way to be visible to potential clients (internally for me and my team, or externally for our lawyers).
Great reads in the link above. Lots of food for Friday thought.
